Documenting Evidence for the Supernatural Lamb
Monthly Archives: December 2013
The Bible is not one book written by one person in one person’s lifetime. One of the most compelling aspects pointing towards the ultimate supernatural origin of the Bible is the complexity of stories and themes developed over hundreds of years, recorded by human authors that never saw each other. In the Hebrew Scriptures (or Old Testament), human authors recorded odd situations and events without fully explaining their reason or purpose. Generations later, other authors would declare witness to new stories helping the old ones to make sense or achieve greater significance.
God will provide a lamb
And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. Genesis 22:8
so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many… – Hebrews 9:28
On the next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! – John 1:29 (NET)
How can the blood of an animal make redemption for a human?
But flesh with the life thereof, [which is] the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. – Genesis 9:4-6
‘For the life of the flesh [is] in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it [is] the blood [that] makes atonement for the soul.’ – Leviticus 17:11
For [it is] not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. – Hebrews 10:4
knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things…but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. – 1 Peter 1:18,19
What’s the bizarre purpose of a snake on a pole?
The LORD said to Moses, “Make a poisonous snake and set it on a poll. When anyone who is bitten looks at it he will live.” So Moses made a bronze snake and put it on a poll, so that if a snake had bitten someone, when he looked at the bronze snake he lived.” – Numbers 21:4-9 (NET)
Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life – John 3:14,15 (NET)
For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. – 2 Corinthians 5:21
How Can God take back people He divorced without breaking His own law?
…Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that [is] abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee [for] an inheritance. – Deuteronomy 24:1-4
They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man’s, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD… And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce – Jeremiah 3:1-8
And you were at one time strangers and enemies in your minds as expressed through your evil deeds, but now he has you by his physical body through death to present you holy, without blemish, and blameless before him – Colossians 1:21,22 (NET)
It would seem that God in Christ kills Himself so that He can reconcile Himself to the people (bride) He loves (who have committed spiritual adultery) without violating His own law!
